Yucky!

This is one of those blog posts I really had to think about before doing! If you've ever had one or more of these in your garden, you know why I had to give it some thought! About 10 years ago, when I had a large veggie garden, these started to pop up. I got rid of them and never saw them again, until today.
They look like carrots, but trust me, they aren't. When they first pop up, you can smell them from a mile away. It's a gross smell too, not a nice smell.

It's a fungus. Named Stinkhorn and the name says it all.

From what I can gather, they are caused by extreme heat and then extreme water, which we have had both. Four days of extreme heat, followed by a lot of rain. They pop up overnight. And they are just downright gross. Anyone else ever get these?

Never heard of it and never had them. Maybe you should contact that place out in CA that has that stinky plant and they can be neighbors! Yuck!!! (now, how do you get rid of it ~ just yank them out?)

I have never heard of this- but I will be on the lookout! I have had smelly fungus pop up in the yard before, but I never got close enough to investigate O_O
