Strange looks

Ever get strange looks while shopping and wonder why? Do I have a bugger hanging from my nose? Do I have a bad case of bed head? There's times I wear my pig shoes and can understand the looks then, but today, I was baffled.

I found this object at the thrift shop. I immediately fell in love with the color of it and thought it must be vintage, don't see this color anymore. It's a rack, what kind of rack, I thought. I was standing there turning it different directions in my hands, not willing to set it down. Ah ha, the light went on, it's a vintage dish drainer! Yep, bet that's what it is, for a double sink and you hang it over the divider in the sink, that's wonderful! It's mine for now!
Okay, so I bring it home, go to take it out of the bag and realize it's NOT a sink drainer, it's a dish rack for inside a cabinet, I had it upside down in the store, hence the weird looks. Well, maybe.
Here is the correct way, isn't it wonderful?
You can hang cups from the hooks on the left, dishes under that part and then stack dishes on the right side! It's nice and heavy, too.

Felted purse... again

I think I'm getting better at this! I made another purse and do like the size of it this time. I've been keeping records as I go along so I know the size I want to do the next time. One thing about this one, I hate the yarn I used, will never buy it again. It frayed apart while trying to join the handles to the body of the purse. I never had that happen before and hope it doesn't happen again.

The colors of this yarn are so pretty and there's a rose colored yarn in this line but now I'll have to look elsewhere for my next color. These are the before felting photos:

And here's the finished product:

A beautiful day in the neighborhood

I went to take some mail to the mailbox this morning before leaving for my weekly thrifting. When I turned back towards the house, there was a pretty little hummingbird checking out the flowers in my front garden. I just stood there and watched it until it left.
Did you know you could purchase a frequent shopper card at Goodwill? Well, you can! It costs only $4.25 for the card and you get a percent off every time you buy and it's good for a year! I purchased one today and all ready got an additional $2.06 off my purchases, it will pay for itself in no time and it's good at all the Goodwill Shops and we have a bunch around here.
And, you can go to www.Goodwill.Org and they have an online auction! Fun stuff!

I just HAD to have a loopy bowl. Yep, I wanted one so badly. So, I turned to the one and only person I knew that could make me one. Jennie at http://www.sosorosey.etsy.com. Jennie is amazing! Tell her an idea and if it can be done, she'll come up with a way! In only one day, she made these awesome items for me!

Thrifting again!

As you probably know by now, I love to go thrifting! I go at least once a week, if not more! I picked up a few more Monopoly games that still have the tokens and with these and the ones people have so generously sent me, I think I'm set on those for now.
Last night, I found a wonderful gray agate oval tray that I think I'll use out on my deck for a while, a big chunky plastic ring and a surprise that was sent out to a friend today.
This morning while out thrifting, I found this nifty item, it's a Sweater Guard, a souvenir of Crystal Cave in Kutztown, PA.

This is the most interesting part, made from real butterfly wings?????

Exactly what part is that? Would the wings be inside there?

This next item is what it's all about, what I live for, what I love searching for!!! Check out this pin!
Big, beautiful BAKELITE!!!!! Can you believe it? Yep, found at a thrift shop! I can hardly contain myself. :o)
