Team ESST Weekend Extravaganza

Beginning on Saturday September 5th at 12:00 AM EST, the Etsy Supply Street Team is hosting another "Weekend Shopping Extravaganza." This months event will be held Saturday, September 5th & Sunday, September 6th, 2009. ALL ETSY SHOPS - HANDMADE, SUPPLIES AND VINTAGE - are invited to participate by placing an announcement in your shop and joining in with promoting on the "Official" Promotional thread in the Etsy Forums.

This will be a “Shopping Event” similar to a Public Marketplace. There will not be a "Overall theme" since Etsy is a Global Marketplace hence, the seasons, cultures, holidays, etc. can vary quite a bit. Although not required, we do strongly encourage shops to have a feature, theme or sale as this can pique interest and help you to draw people to your shop.

You do not have to participate for the whole weekend simply join in when you can on the Promo thread in the Etsy Forums. You can search for the official thread - “SEPTEMBER WEEKEND SHOPPING EXTRAVAGANZA SEPTEMBER 5TH & 6TH”. Here is the Promo thread in the Etsy Forums:
Thread link will be posted at 12:00 A.M. September 5th!

The only requirement is that you have a shop on Etsy and help promote by joining in and bumping the thread throughout the weekend. Talk about your shop and what you have to offer our shoppers.

Those of you who blog or twitter can post and/or tweet about it and promote to people that are off Etsy to visit us. It will provide the Etsy community with publicity, making our shops more visible, and hopefully creating a monthly event shoppers will look forward to.

If you have any questions please convo the Etsy Supply Street Team.

Ding, Ding, Ding! We have a winner!

Thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Bubbles! They figured out what I have and sent this illustration to prove it! The mystery gadget is a coconut grater! Thank you Glenna and Dennis! You two are the best!

What the heck is it?

Found this gadget at a thrift shop and have no clue what it is, but is sure looks fun! Any help identifying it would be appreciated! One lady at that register thought it might be a paint mixer!
Here are the blades:

It has a lightweight orange handle and it turns like a mixer would.

It's attached (I assume previous owner did this) to a wooden block with a formica top.

The words on that back side read "Anjali Mild Steel" And you know as much as I do!

Flowers

With summer winding down, I wanted to get a few more photos of my flowers before they are gone. The first ones are balloon flowers, they start out looking like little puffs and then open up to these wonderful flowers! I have them in white, pink, blue and double blooms. They are fun to squeeze a little and help them open! Kids love them!
Sunchokes. They are very pretty and goldfinch love them. Me, not so much anymore, they multiply like crazy.

These wonderful little flowers are toad lilies. These things work so hard to grow! They have to grow with the sunchokes and always poke through!

These are pond lilies. I only have one lily but it blooms one color, last for three days and each day it's a different color bloom. I have two blooming at the same time and you can see the difference in colors! But yes, it's the same plant.

Felting!

My friend, Glenna from http://www.vintageembellishment.etsy.com/ got me interested in felted beads. I have so much roving, I decided to give it a try. After several failed attempts, I finally got the hang of it! Some are better than others, but that's okay, I'm not using these for beads but wanted to fill some felted bowls I have.I got to thinking, it's going to take thousands of these to fill my bowls! Solution? Make bigger balls! What I'm finding out is, not all roving is created equal. I absolutely love how the alpaca worked up! Buffalo roving doesn't cut it for these larger ones. Wool yarn can be used and I can't stop making them now! Thanks Glenna! LOL!The two felted bowls and the flowers are made by Valerie at http://www.valeriesgallery.etsy.com/. She does amazing work! Stop by her shop and check out what she can do with yarn! There's still one more item I must have in her shop, so make sure you check with me before you purchase. LOL!This is my favorite, the balls match the bowl so nicely and this is the alpaca I was talking about, just love these balls! Here's another bowl, my loopy bowl made by Jennie at http://www.sosorosey.etsy.com/. Another amazing artist! What she can do with fabrics is not to be believed!

Just what I need, another project! But these sure are fun to make!

Thrift Finds

This bowl in the Bubble pattern is in the clear color. I could not believe I found it at a thrift shop last week!
The second bowl is Iris & Herringbone pattern in gold. This one was stuck under a rack on the floor, with just a tad bit of the bowl sticking out. I'm in shock! It's so big, I was unable to get a decent photo of it, but I think you can get the idea. Here's the killer, I paid a whopping $1.80 for it, plus tax of course.
Both of these bowls have been spoken for, my friend has all ready staked claimed to them! I really didn't want to ship them anyway, I think the shipping costs would be too much!

Thrift shop find

I love vintage and especially love retro 60's type items. I was so surprised to come across this one!

Complete with original paperwork! It's this wonderful aqua color!

So Judy Jetson, don't you think?

I wish I could keep all the items like this I find, but I can't. It is for sale in my vintage shop: www.VintageStation.etsy.com. Stop by and check out more photos!
