Weekend finds!

It's been a long weekend!  Time for me to catch up!  This post will have a lot of photos so sit back and relax.

First, stopped at a thrift shop and picked up one interesting item. 

This is a Georges Briard hot plate that folds out.  Has a section for crackers and a cheese board as the third part.  (don't you just love how I clean off my table before taking photos?)

It doesn't work, unfortunately, think it might have gotten wet at some point but it's still a nice piece and you can use it anyway, just don't plug it in!

Next, a friend gave me a few pieces!  Two seashell animals she found at a thrift shop and a toothpick holder found at the flea market.

Went to Leesport flea market again and was disappointed that it wasn't completely filled up with vendors.  A lot of empty spots but still was able to spend hours there and pick up a few items.

This is a doorknob echelon, I think it is super but it is used with those old knobs so I think I'll look for a neat one to use, even if I don't use the lock part, it still dresses up your door.  Oh, maybe I'll sell it.  LOL!

This is neat, it is a printers set that was used to stamp identifying marks and dates on switchboards, phones, fuses etc.

It sure has a lot of stamps to it and it is so heavy, I'd hate to be the one that had to carry it around!

Has ink with it and I'm not sure how complete it is yet, but do know it is missing the brushes.

This awesome chip n' dip that is complete.  I have two others that one is missing the tiny bowl inside it and a second one that is missing one of the sections.  I'm going to use this Sunday for company!  Best part??  It was only $5.00!!!!

These are plastic Christmas angels.  There's a duplicate of the first one for a total of 4.

They are that hard plastic that becomes brittle after time so they have a few cracks but I thought they were cute.

Now to figure out how to store them!

We stopped at an antique mall.  I found a set of PBN's but unfortunately, they were not priced, the clerk tried to call the owner but never got a hold of him, so no sale there.  I did find these:

I think these are the neatest ones I've ever seen.

Flea Market

What a great day for a flea market!  Checked the weather forecast and it said the storms weren't moving through until later in the day, so off we went!

The hubby wanted to look for some tools to replace missing pieces so he was happy to take me!  And he was able to find what he wanted, so it was a good day for both of us!

Here is what was found today.  The hubby bought this, yep, a toolbox and it's for me!  Now my hammer, screwdrivers and wrenches have a home other than my kitchen junk drawer!  And it's the industrial colors I love, he did good!

Another toothpick holder.  It has a really nice pattern on it:

This is a beautiful Heisey sugar bowl, it just sparkles!

A paint by number magazine rack:

Four paint by numbers, not the best of shape but cheap enough.  And I love the message on the backs.  I've seen worse conditions, too.

A year later, Pete did these:

Here is another industrial box, this one is for slides.

Came with the boxes, 8 of them have slides in them, must go through and look at them all, the other four boxes are empty.  Makes a great display.

And I did a bundle!!  The slide box above and these two wall hangings.  I've seen these and they are made by the same manufacturer as my wall shadow box.  They are the perfect size for hanging on each side of your shelf.  Remember, I had two small gravel art pictures on each side of it and these are so much better! 

We also came home with a shoo fly pie and 2 whoopie pies!

Vintage finds.

I have mixed feelings about today!  A friend and I got up early to go to this "huge" yard sale.  We got there and they didn't have much at all and nothing I wanted.  But behind the yard sale was a small antique mall with about 30 vendors inside it.  It really was a cute place and I walked out with these:

Paint by number called Snowy Memories.  It's a nice size, 12 x 16 and it was within my PBN budget!

These are neat.  They are plastic lacy doilies!  They are such a great aqua color that I think I need to use one in my retro bathroom!

I got three of them!

We went to two other antique malls and I walked out with nothing!  A whole day and this is all I came home with!  

There were a few things I probably shouldn't have passed on but I wasn't in the right frame of mind for all this shopping.  One thing I am going to take the hubby back to look at was another tension pole lamp that I passed by because I didn't think it would work where I wanted to use it but now I think I can make it work!

We had a pleasant time but I should have spent more money!  LOL!  Well, tomorrow is another day...

Funky!

What goes best with a funky chair?

Why, a funky footstool, of course!

I can't believe I found another one!

Unfortunately, it was left in sunlight too long but I still love it!  The "grass" inside is browned around the edges and that is exactly how a terrarium would look in my house.  I never could grow a terrarium.

Oh, I got a few buttons, too.

Chair Makeover

It was time to put new seat covers on my dining room chairs.  It's not easy finding fabrics anymore, not too many places to buy it.  Only craft shop that has a decent selection is JoAnn's and oh my goodness are they expensive for upholstery fabric!  

They have the beautiful designer material on sale right now for 50% off but that still means around $40 a yard on sale!  I don't think so.  They had a smaller selection of light weight upholstery fabrics for a nice price but I couldn't find anything I really liked and I didn't want to settle.

Purchasing online made me nervous, can't feel it or know if the colors were true to the photos.  Most places will send you swatches but even those are on the expensive side! Let's face it, go to eBay and you can find a good bargain.  I found so many fabrics that I just loved, it was hard to decide!  

I wanted to change these:

Into something fun and funky retro.  This is the fabric I finally decided on:

And I had just enough to make a matching tablecloth!

Shopping Spree - Buttons and Grand Jury Duty

Wow, I went on an Etsy sewing button shopping spree.  I couldn't help myself.  While on Mecation, I purchased a bunch of buttons and that just made me want more.  I got my collection out, went through my purchases, kept what I didn't have and started listing any duplicates.  Just getting my collection out and handling them all again, made me want more.  And heck, I had leftover money from my mecation!

I started out looking for more calico buttons from a friend of mine, VintageVendor and got 3 amazing buttons from her to add to that part of my collection.

Then, I went to Etsy and did a search for vintage buttons, especially buffed celluloids and I went to town.  I was putting items in my favorites so I could keep on shopping and I noticed someone was going behind me and putting the ones I was adding to my favorites into their favorites, so I wasn't about to lose out and snapped them all up.

They started to arrive today!  I just love how all of them were wrapped!  Some using vintage pages from a dictionary, vintage sheet music (and you all know how much I LOVE paper), boxes, notes etc.  It was like Christmas for me!

I don't hoard buttons, I take one or two for my collection and then I do offer any extras for sale.  The ones above are from Artistic2Vintage  I didn't buy out the entire shop, so stop by and see what she has!

Isn't this just beautiful?  My photo doesn't do it justice.  This came from AuntNonniesNest and she has more!

I love the floral buffed celluloid buttons and anything that looks deco or atomic!  I think these fit in at least one of those categories!  

They came from MyBestGoods and are a pretty mauve color.

This one was fun, from blacksheepyarns   She sent me an extra button (LOVE) and a special card (LOVE), take a look:

On a side note!!!!!  My grand jury duty has come to an end!  Not officially yet, we could still get called in for an emergency session through the month of June but I don't think that will happen.  One of our last cases we took care of was one we worked on for 8 months and it has finally hit the news, so I can talk about it!  It was wild, for sure:
