Shopping Spree - Buttons and Grand Jury Duty

Wow, I went on an Etsy sewing button shopping spree.  I couldn't help myself.  While on Mecation, I purchased a bunch of buttons and that just made me want more.  I got my collection out, went through my purchases, kept what I didn't have and started listing any duplicates.  Just getting my collection out and handling them all again, made me want more.  And heck, I had leftover money from my mecation!

I started out looking for more calico buttons from a friend of mine, VintageVendor and got 3 amazing buttons from her to add to that part of my collection.

Then, I went to Etsy and did a search for vintage buttons, especially buffed celluloids and I went to town.  I was putting items in my favorites so I could keep on shopping and I noticed someone was going behind me and putting the ones I was adding to my favorites into their favorites, so I wasn't about to lose out and snapped them all up.

They started to arrive today!  I just love how all of them were wrapped!  Some using vintage pages from a dictionary, vintage sheet music (and you all know how much I LOVE paper), boxes, notes etc.  It was like Christmas for me!

Let me show you what arrived today!
I don't hoard buttons, I take one or two for my collection and then I do offer any extras for sale.  The ones above are from Artistic2Vintage  I didn't buy out the entire shop, so stop by and see what she has!

Isn't this just beautiful?  My photo doesn't do it justice.  This came from AuntNonniesNest and she has more!

I love the floral buffed celluloid buttons and anything that looks deco or atomic!  I think these fit in at least one of those categories!
They came from MyBestGoods and are a pretty mauve color.

This one was fun, from blacksheepyarns   She sent me an extra button (LOVE) and a special card (LOVE), take a look:

Terrific buttons!  Now look at the card!
How did she do that?  It's from my area!  Think I can still use it?

Thanks ladies!  You've made my day!  Please click on the links above and see what other items they have to offer.

I've been listing buttons all week long on Etsy and still have enough to list through Sunday!  Please take a look at what I have to offer, too:  VintageStation  I'm sure people are tired of all the buttons this week, so I'll switch to other items next week.  :o)

On a side note!!!!!  My grand jury duty has come to an end!  Not officially yet, we could still get called in for an emergency session through the month of June but I don't think that will happen.  One of our last cases we took care of was one we worked on for 8 months and it has finally hit the news, so I can talk about it!  It was wild, for sure:

I think these two will be spending their retirement in jail.

Day Five - Mecation

Today was my travel home day.  I stopped by and picked up some more calico buttons:

I can't wait to see how many of these I need for my collection!  Some of the patterns are really neat.

Stopped by the pond store and picked up everything needed to set up the pond.  It's all set up and ready for the summer now!  We have too many fish, anyone need some?  Apparently, some babies were born during the Winter!

Day Four - Mecation

It was a dark and dreary day but I decided to go out and visit an indoor flea market.  Much to my surprise, there were some dealers outside, too!  I enjoyed looking around but couldn't spend any money.  Went inside and same thing, didn't purchase one item and I tried, I really tried!

I left there and went to a co-op.  Again, really had trouble spending money!  A lot of the dealers were having sales, anywhere from 15% to 50% off but could I find one single item in any of them?  NO!  Then, I came across this one dealer that had so many items to go through, I was having a ball.  But guess what?  Nothing was on sale in this booth!  That's just my luck.  But just take a look at what I did get!

I love these!  Will anyone else though?  They were described on the tag as plastic ornaments with stuff inside them!  LOL!
Don't tell me you don't think these are about the cutest ever!  Love the snowman with the tree and candy cane.
Do these have a real name?  On the tag, glitter snowman.

I did get a discount on these:
Ah, purple calico buttons!  I'll keep any I don't have in my collection and sell the rest.

Day Three - Mecation

I packed a ton in today because the weather might be nasty tomorrow.  Lots of photos today!

I started the day at a flea market.  There was a couple there that came from close to where I live!  They aren't dealers, just people trying to unload a bunch of items that were left to them.  I made out very well!

First thing I purchased were these napkins for embroidery.  A set of six!
Then, I was looking at some bags of Christmas items:
 Various Santa picks marked $6.00
Pipe cleaner angels and such, also marked $6.00.
She said I could have them for $10 but I decided to bundle, dang that American Pickers marathon I watched all night last night!
There was a box of vintage greeting cards.
They are in great condition and there were a bunch of post cards inside the box, too.
There's only 3 of the above and they are so awesome!
The girl with the powder puff opens up with her hand popping up with a powder puff in it!
These are 3-D with various items popping out.  It doesn't show well but the bathtub is popped out as well as some of the other items.
Same way, the bed pops out!
A few more cards.
Close up of muff lady.
All the red on this one is flocked!  The two bags of picks and the cards?  $12.00 for all!
Then, they talked me into one last item, a puzzle for $1.00.  This one should keep my Mom busy for awhile!
Some  unusual Bakelite handled utensils.
Bakelite buckle
I've seen these before and even owned a few in my days.  I always called them Burwood.  What is Burwood anyway?
The original card shows something interesting!  It says 'a wood fibre (note the spelling) plastic'.  Wood fiber plastic?
A paint by number magazine rack for $4.00!!!!

I'm tired!

Day 2 - Mecation

Today was simply beautiful.  Too wonderful to spend all day inside shops!  I hit a few places and then took a ride so my purchases aren't much today!

I need another mug like I need another hole in my head but seriously, how could I resist this for only .97 cents?  Really.  I don't think it was ever used.

Tupperware juice cups!
Yep, yet another Dymo label maker.  Might have to keep this one, look at all the label tapes I got with it!  Purple!  Who knew?
I really MUST stay out of this next place.  I cannot resist their papers and I certainly don't need any more papers!

This is a huge pack of paper.  It's called Experience Paper.  Has the lines that look like practice paper on one side and on the second side, there's a blank area at the top and then the lines start about half way down. I was told it is so you can draw a photo on the top part and write a story in the rest of the area!  It's a very large size, too.
What can I say, it was on sale!
They were having a book sale so I stopped in to look for any Stuart Woods books for the hubby.  He is down to only needing a few more!

I got lucky.  One down, two more to go!!  And the best part?  It was a whopping .80 cents!

How adorable is this?

Okay, not the box but what is in it.  It's a tiny little wallpaper type border!

I've stayed at this hotel so many times and things have been changing all around it.  I knew they were building a small strip type mall but I didn't know they were going to add a new road.  It's pretty cool.

I was standing at my window, watching people come and go and I looked across to where they are building this strip mall and noticed something.  Huh?  Seriously?  Are my eyes playing tricks on me?

Those are tombstones?  I think I'll ask to stay on the other side of the hotel from now on.

Day 1 of Mecation

Here is what I got today!

At my first stop:
Pillow Covers.  Don't you just love the moose?
Two matching paint by numbers:
Now, these I just can't stop giggling over.  I wouldn't have purchased these at full price but at half price, couldn't help myself!  You really need to enlarge these!

Very ugly, huh?  Not very well done, think that's why I like them so much.
Check out the butterflies on these!  Way too funny.  These are tiny tip trays.  I wonder who painted them!
Later, I got these:
Funky casserole.  It has NO markings so I have no idea how to research it.  Any clues?
I got these three file boxes and I'm hoping to use these for photos and get organized.
It says they are index card size.

Interesting price tag on one of them!

That's all folks!
