Knitted Scarf

I really want to knit scarves to match my new blazers.  I'm not a good knitter so what ever I do must be easy.

I found this pattern online called Condo Stitch and OMG, it was so easy and so fast to do!  

You knit with two different sized needles at one time.  

The instructions called for size 9 and size 35 needles but I couldn't find a size 35 without searching all over.  I picked size 6 and size 19.

I used this yarn because I was fascinated by it!  Recycling plastic bottles?

I picked Forest Floor for this one and started knitting.  All you do is knit every row but use the different size needles for every row.  Start out by knitting the first row with the smaller needle and then the next row is the larger needle, back to the smaller one etc.  This was the end result:

I was able to make it very long so I can wear it doubled over and still had a lot of yarn left over from the one skein.  Inexpensive, easy and a great look, doesn't get much better than that!

Does this just look like a mass of moldy moss?

Well, the first day of my trip, I stopped at The Craft Warehouse, which is always a mistake! Like I need more paper or more projects.

I saw this yarn and had to have it. I purchased two skeins and knitting needles and headed for the hotel.

The first evening, I was over halfway done with the scarf. I was in love. The second day of my trip, I went back to the craft shop and purchased two more colors.

I finished the first scarf the second evening and immediately started the second one.

This yarn is amazing! It has the feel of cashmere and you just want to bury your face in it!

The first scarf went the second my friend saw it, the second one is for a birthday present.

I have one more color to do, a Faded Jeans color and can't wait to get to it!

Felted purse... again

I think I'm getting better at this! I made another purse and do like the size of it this time. I've been keeping records as I go along so I know the size I want to do the next time. One thing about this one, I hate the yarn I used, will never buy it again. It frayed apart while trying to join the handles to the body of the purse. I never had that happen before and hope it doesn't happen again.

The colors of this yarn are so pretty and there's a rose colored yarn in this line but now I'll have to look elsewhere for my next color. These are the before felting photos:

Attempted knitting project

I really like to knit but I'm not very good at it. Anything I do must be EASY! So, I think this felted tote looks easy enough! I love felting, too but again, nothing ever comes out looking like "their" finished photos do!

Here's the tote before I felted it. It measures 24 x 28 inches.

I used Lion Brand Wool in the colors of Midnight Blue and Sage. It takes 3 skeins of each color.

Here's what it looks like after I felted it:

It now measures 16 x 12 inches! It really is nice and sturdy and will be great as a market tote!

I think if I make another one, I will do it in a solid color so there's no need to switch colors a lot! In this one, you change colors every five rows. I am SO tempted to make another one and use dyeable wool and dye it with Kool-Aid. I've dyed the wool before and really liked doing it.
