Vintage Sewing Buttons

My latest finds in vintage buttons.

First, my friend sent me these buttons:
Pretty plain and boring huh?  HA, let's take another look!

They are actually blue and aqua!  Both Bakelite.  Thank you Cathy!

Then I found this lot of Bakelite buttons on eBay:
Again, these need a closer look!

The green duck is actually blue.
The brown Pied Piper and Old Mother Hubbard are blue.
The maroon looking key is purple!!  It's my first piece of purple Bakelite.

Ah, more plastic realistics!
This little piggy got away from the other pigs!  Not sure how that happened.
I like the looks of these.

Love the rocking horses.
Nothing great, some pieces from the Teenager set.
A complete set of World's Fair buttons.
Some vases.  Can you tell they are hand painted?  LOL!  Pretty bad paint job on that second one!
The Toy Set, one of my favorite sets.
And my all time favorite!  Thanks to Cathy, I completed the set!

Vintage Button Collection - Day 4

Today is chunky Bakelite buttons!  Ah, I just love Bakelite.  I'm really trying not to find too many of these!

At first glance, these just look like plain black Bakelite BUT they are actually a wonderful blue Bakelite.  The top one has an added surprise, it has some type of something or other embedded inside it.

This is a black Bakelite with a brass coat.
Black and green chunky ones.
Misc. shapes.  Not really sure what that first thing is, it screws apart.
These are cookies and logs.
Some fun shapes.
This is apple juice Bakelite with red Bakelite embedded in it.

Vintage Button Collection - Day 3

Today I'm concentrating on celluloid and Lucite buttons.
I love these cubes!  I have been able to come across them a few times and get a nice collection of clear, pink, purple and orange ones.  I did use a few of these on a bracelet I made with vintage charms.

Sometimes, I just wonder what the buttons were on originally.
Some layered and wafers.
I love these!  Spaghetti celluloids.
Misc. ones.
More misc.
Laminates and layered.
It's funny, but these plain and simple ones are some of my favorites.  Nothing like a big chunk of Lucite!
These are awesome but I just couldn't get a nice photo.  They seem to be some weird pink and black pattern under a clear Lucite.
