Day 2 - Mecation

Today was simply beautiful.  Too wonderful to spend all day inside shops!  I hit a few places and then took a ride so my purchases aren't much today!

I need another mug like I need another hole in my head but seriously, how could I resist this for only .97 cents?  Really.  I don't think it was ever used.

Tupperware juice cups!
Yep, yet another Dymo label maker.  Might have to keep this one, look at all the label tapes I got with it!  Purple!  Who knew?
I really MUST stay out of this next place.  I cannot resist their papers and I certainly don't need any more papers!

This is a huge pack of paper.  It's called Experience Paper.  Has the lines that look like practice paper on one side and on the second side, there's a blank area at the top and then the lines start about half way down. I was told it is so you can draw a photo on the top part and write a story in the rest of the area!  It's a very large size, too.
What can I say, it was on sale!
They were having a book sale so I stopped in to look for any Stuart Woods books for the hubby.  He is down to only needing a few more!

I got lucky.  One down, two more to go!!  And the best part?  It was a whopping .80 cents!

How adorable is this?

Okay, not the box but what is in it.  It's a tiny little wallpaper type border!

I've stayed at this hotel so many times and things have been changing all around it.  I knew they were building a small strip type mall but I didn't know they were going to add a new road.  It's pretty cool.

I was standing at my window, watching people come and go and I looked across to where they are building this strip mall and noticed something.  Huh?  Seriously?  Are my eyes playing tricks on me?

Those are tombstones?  I think I'll ask to stay on the other side of the hotel from now on.

Thrifting Trip - Day 2

What I lacked in yesterday, I made up for today!  I have a boatload to show you, so sit back and enjoy!

I found two new places to go today so I didn't really get started on the antique shops yet.  I stopped at only 1 and after tomorrow's flea market, I will dig in on antique shops only!

I had purchased some of this paper on a previous visit and wished I got more.  I was surprised to see they still had some.  They didn't have the multi-colored one anymore but I still love these.  They are practice sheets to learn how to print your A, B, C's, do you remember this?  I know this is older stock because there's no zip code in the addresses.

Okay, something for the hubby.  He's so into this author, we printed out a checklist that is 4 pages long and check off any of them I find along the way.  I looked around 3 times and couldn't find any of them, a nice lady that knew the book section said she knew right where they are.  Okay, she couldn't find any either.  She says they were there yesterday, four books, they must have sold.  She was so nice, she ran back to the warehouse and searched for more and came out with these three!!  Hardback books for only $1.00 each, can't beat that with a stick!
Of course, it wouldn't be a trip without at least one paint by number!
Children's tea set, love the cake server!

Have you ever seen something and you don't know why, but you just have to have them?  These were that way for me!  There's 21 total small ones, 4 of the next size up, 3 of the larger ones and 1 large one.  Why was I so fascinated with them?  They are plastic!!  I love you can throw them in with the dishes and wash them right up and no need for the iron!

I thought this was an old candy container:
The blue things inside are just little plastic things the seller put inside it.  Take a look at what it once had in it!
I found this next Tupperware item and immediately thought it was time for another bird feeder when I saw it. I'm sure it's supposed to have a lid but I doubt the birds will mind if it's missing.  Now I have to find another chair leg to mount it on!
And yet, another Tupperware piece.  I've never seen one like this before and this one looks like it's never been used.
What is it?  It's a multi-server!
Check out the date on the paperwork.  And is that lifetime warranty still in effect?

Called Dealer's Choice Ash Trays, this comes with it's own little rack!

I don't get to see this pattern too often, I do have a large bowl that matches in my shop and the pattern is just so cheery!
Now, let's take a look at the price!  Woohoo!  I felt like offering them MORE for it!

This is the business card I picked up in one of the new stores I found today.  What a neat place and she just opened a second shop that I'll need to visit some day.

I found this pin at Uncle Funky's:
It's so cute, I can hardly stand it!  It's a busy little Poodle, open wire work, twisted wire work, tiny blue stones and even little faux pearls!

Not totally sure what this next item is.

Does anyone have any idea for sure?  We are thinking it might be for a cape?  Some type of cape closure?
Remember the souvenir pillow covers?  Tacky!
Since I picked up some Christmas ornaments yesterday, it was just a matter of time until I started picking up more.  I'm giving thought to making a wreath, so I better stock up!

The two Santa's are sweet.  The red one still in the original package is flocked.  After I picked it up, I found a few more in the antique store and they wanted $10.00 each for them, I paid .50 cents.

And if I make a wreath, I definitely need these to fill in empty spaces.

Take a quick look at these and see if you know what they are!
Yep, seals balancing balls on their noses!  I think they are just plastic charms.
Every time I come on one of these trips, I swear I'll get back to the hotel and write down all the prices etc.  That always lasted all of one day!  This time, I'm saving all my receipts and getting back to the hotel and using those to write what each item is and have the prices right there.  So far, I've done it for two days now! Will it continue?  We'll see.  Flea market tomorrow and they aren't known for handing out receipts!

Thrift Finds!

Went out today and came home with a few items.  I did show some restraint and put a few items back!

Here are my finds for the day:

An enameled daisy pin!  I just love it.
Can you guess what these are?  I had to bin dive to get these!
Does this photo help you guess what they are?
Okay, they are inflatable hangers!  Seem perfect for travel!  The prints on them are just lovely!
Take a look at this!  What a great retro item this is!
Can't you just see this with a cheese ball on it?  And just look at the amount of crackers you can put on it!
And yes, I found a vintage Uncle Wiggily game.  I only want it for the game pieces and cards, they make awesome tags!
Tags, once I'm done with them!
Cute little cross stitch item:
Some picnic plate holders.
And, here's a good one!  My hubby isn't too thrilled with this one:
LOLOL, yep, another Tupperware chip n' dip, now I can have another bird feeder!  The hubby isn't happy he has to do some work.  :o)  You can see the first one here:  http://runswithscissors4.blogspot.com/2011/08/thrift-find-fun.html

I have one more item but will share that with you all tomorrow!  Stay tuned!

Thrift Find Fun!

Several weeks ago, I found this Tupperware chip n' dip at a thrift shop for a dollar:

It wasn't in the best of condition, it is missing the lid to the center part and it had white spots on it.  Eventually, I did get the white spots off of it, so it wasn't too bad.  I took photos to list it in one of my shops but just never would list it for some reason.

Fast forward a few weeks and this idea flew into my head!  I need to make a trip to Home Depot!

Before I could get there, I visited another thrift shop and woohoo, I found what I wanted!!!
A table leg and it was priced $1.99, can't beat that at Home Depot!

So, paint it up and coat it with some polyurethane and now look at it!
Isn't it pretty?  Now attach the chip n' dip to the top of it and take a look:
My outdoor birdie friends now have a classy looking bird feeder!
I love it!  The hubby will connect a walkway block to the bottom of it so it will be free standing and I can move it around.  The center does pop off so I can easily clean it!  I hope the birds love it as much as I do and for the price I spent on it, if they don't like it, I can get rid of it.  :o)

Thrift Finds!

Went out thrifting yesterday and found a few items.

This is a picnic caddy by Karoff, very interesting piece!
I fully expands and has compartments for all kinds of items!  I think it would be awesome to use as a sewing caddy by the sewing machine or to keep jewelry in on a dresser and even to use with artist supplies!
It opens all the way and is about 30" long when fully opened.  It's wood with brass accents.  I have this listed in my Etsy shop:  PICNIC CADDY

Also found a wonderful set of Vera Neumann pillowcases!  So bright and cheery to wake up to in the AM.
I really don't think these were ever used.  I think they are straight out of a package!
Are they beautiful?  They can be found here: PILLOWCASES

A rack to hold your rolls of kitchen wrap, aluminum foil, wax paper etc.

How I miss the good old days when you could find things in such wonderful colors!

And this Tupperware chip n' dip!  It is missing the lid but still awesome!
This is huge!  I can't imagine all the crackers you'd have to use for this, but you could use it for veggies and even lunch meats.
