Some finds!

A few more items I found this week!

This is a neat piece!  It's a salesman sample of a cast iron tub.  An exact replica of the actual bathtub, scaled down.  Pink enamel covers the cast iron.  It's called Contour by American Standard.

Salesmen could carry this right to the home or it could be left on a countertop in a showroom.

Here's just one of the original ads for the bathtub:

Found these three coin sleeves that I just bet went nicely into an Easter basket!

And, a type set that is probably a marriage of two different sets, but still a neat item.  The box alone is cool!

Update!

The other day, I posted this:  http://www.runswithscissors4.blogspot.com/2012/02/what-are-friends-for.html and I've been doing some more work on them.

I cleaned up a few more and started playing.  Since I'm the worse spray painter in the world, I got the hubby to spray paint the backs of the tiles with chalkboard paint:

I made up some labels:
Tied some colorful yarn at the top:
You can write a message on the back:
Or draw a cute picture, if you can!

Then, I packaged them with a piece of chalk and can now send them along with purchases!
Ta Da!

Thrift Finds!

I made a deal with the hubby on Sat.  If he'll take me to one thrift shop of my choice, I'd go to Staples with him! LOL!

So, I picked out a nice thrift shop and off we went.  I left with two items and both of them I love!

I needed a chair for my desk and here is what I found:

An old school chair.  I love the industrial colors on the legs!

Then, there's this:

Sweet!  A Rolodex in that great industrial gray metal!

Now, I have a question for you.  The previous owner taped an index card to the cover with notes on it.  Would you remove that before selling it or let the next owner do it if they want?  I'm torn, I think the note adds character to it and it can be easily removed but I wonder if the note will keep some from buying it.  Thoughts?

Paint by Number

Okay, so I find this PBN and can't stop giggling about it.

I mean, really??  Blue trees, green sky?  Really?  Someone was really wasted when they did this one.

I search and search, because I want to see what it should look like.  Finally, under 'trees' at the PBN museum, I find one!  Oh my goodness, this one is worse!  Purple trees?  Purple house?  LOLOL, oh how I love paint by numbers!

What are friends for?

Okay, so I see this listing in my friend's shop for 100 plus laminated tiles (AKA same as Formica) and my head started racing!

I LOVE these, there must be something I can do with them!!!  So, I make the purchase.  Then, she tells me she found some other kinds and she'll include those with the sale!  WooHoo!  (I think, anyway)
Well, a few more???  Try probably another 100 plus tiles!  **sigh**   This is what arrived at my door!
Okay, let's start playing!  I take one of each in retro colors:
Put them in an old container and cover them with rubbing alcohol and let them soak.  This not only cleans them but loosens the inks.
Then, I take my trusty Mr. Clean Magic Eraser and rub the ink off of them.  Waalaa!
On my computer, I make up some labels.  I practice on plain paper until I have them perfect and then print them out on clear labels.
Cut them down to size and apply to plastic tiles.
Add hangers, use anything you have laying around, like string, twine, yarn etc.  And you have a thank you card, a business card, luggage tags, wow, just think of the possibilities!

Permanent markers work!  Yippee for Sharpies!  Can you imagine these in a child's art class?  How much fun would that be?
I'm not even sure you really need to remove the printed inks.

Using permanent inks, I just bet rubber stamps would be fun.  Decorate with stickers.  Um, what else can you think to do with them?

Oh, by the way, thanks VE!  **sigh**  Friends love to make me work!

I need to keep practicing, but even the first run was fun to do!

Hawk sighting

Another hawk came to visit!

This is Sunday morning:

It returned on Tuesday!

Isn't it awesome?  I can't tell you what it is exactly but it was big and had a huge wing span.  I just love seeing them, whatever they are!

Awesome Etsy Seller!

For Christmas, I got a new camera for use on my trips!  Just a cute little thing that I can carry along with me.  Now, I needed a new nifty case for it.

I searched around and came across Georgi at JeniLuScraps!  (Click on logo to visit her shop)

We shopped around for just the perfect fabrics and it took us 3 days!  We came up with the perfect retro looking materials!

Georgi made me a gadget bag (for my camera), a cross over bag (for extreme thrifting), 2 snap wallets and 2 zipsters.  Take a peek!

Cross over on left and gadget bag on right.
Snap Wallets
Zipster bags.

The cross over bag worked out so great for court, I've all ready ordered another one in the other  fabric!

The black one is terrific with my jean bag!

And matches my glasses, too!  I love the work she does and highly recommend her!  She's patient and willing to work with you to make sure you get exactly what you want!

Woohoo!

Look what I got! I'm thrilled with finding this and at such a great price for a super neat piece! When I first started looking for this, I was finding it for about $100 or higher. My price? $9.99 plus shipping! I found it on eBay, ending during the Stupid Bowl! Never list anything on eBay that ends during major events. :o)

It's a 1958 Mad Magazine with a paint by number on the cover! It's in really good condition for its age, the pages are yellowed but the staples are perfect and there's just a tiny tear in one page.

Doing the PBN happy dance!
